Belfast Hostels

The 46th annual Belfast Festival is going on from October 17th until November 1st with over 50,000 people expected, it is the largest event of it's kind in Ireland. Originally created by Michael Emmerson in the early 1970s, while studying at Queens University, Emmerson began planning small social events that eventually exploded into one massive attraction. Sponsored by the Ulster Bank Group, this year surly will be bigger and better than ever before. Known for featuring local as well as international artists in an array of all art forms including theater, dance, music, comedy, and literature, this event covers all the bases. More than twenty five venues across Belfast house the festivities. Productions of theatrical classics such as "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "Antigone" will be preformed throughout the two week affair. A wonderfully colorful and abstract children's art competition is also being held, spotlighting some of Ireland's most talented tots. On the other side of the spectrum, Paco Pena will be preforming with his legendary Flamenco dancers and band. Several associated hotels and restaurants are offering discounted rates during the festival dates easing the stress of accommodations. For more information on the Belfast Festival visit
