Los Angeles, shiny city of reinvention

Unabashed optimism and Hot dogs

Placed in a marvelous land, surrounded by deserts, mountain chains, beaches, valleys and forests, Los Angeles is the second most populous metropolitan area in the US, and an important center for media, agriculture, medicine, business, tourism and many others. The city is famous for Hollywood, and most of the tourists come because of the celebrities and the media culture, that's so strong in LA.

Nearly half of the population in Los Angeles was born out of the country, having some specific ethnic neighborhoods like Chinatown, Thai Town, Little Ethiopia, and others. There are also large gay friendly areas, like the neighbor city of West Hollywood and Silver Lake.

Many places in the city will look familiar, for many famous movies were filmed here. The Griffith Park, the River Bridges, the Downtown, are some of these places, and a must to see in a first visit. many of the landmarks are not located in the city, though. The Rodeo Drive is in Beverly Hills, like the NBC, Disney and Warner Bros. studios are in Burbank, the Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Beach are in Santa Monica, and even Disneyland and Newport Beach are about one hour driving from L.A.

Within the city of Los Angeles you can check the historical Olvera Street, the name deriving from the first Pueblo established here, and having the oldest building of the city, open for visit. Top priorities for a first visitor are the Universal Studios, the Venice beach and, obviously, Hollywood.

The city has also some museums and art galleries that may be interesting, like the Page Museum at La Brea Discoveries and The Getty Center. The city has also good opportunities for seeing live pro sports. Los Angeles is a must to see in America, and will make you want to live there.
