Big Day Out Music Festival 2011

January 21 February 6 Australia New Zealand

The Big Day Out Music Festival is one of the largest summer-time music festivals to take place Every year thousands of screaming fans pack the outdoor stadiums, arenas, showground and parks for a festival that’s hotter than the Aussie summer itself!

The line up is always a host of massive International and local artists that jump on this tour a play to over hundreds of thousands of screaming fans each year – in previous years Metallica, Basement Jaxx, Black Eyes Peas, Nirvana, The Prodigy, Limp Bizkit, Foo Fighters and The Red Hot Chili Peppers have all hit the stage!

If you are going to be in Australia or Auckland or are thinking of coming for this event – you will want to book your tickets early, as they usually sell out for major capital cities like Sydney 3-4 months out from the date.

2011 headliners include…

Iggy and the Stooges

Primal Scream

Wolfmother and a host of other local artists from NZ and OZ.

This is one of the highlight festivals of the Aussie summer, think Lollapalooza down under!

If you love music festivals this is one you cannot miss, and if you are really lucky try and do “Sydney’s Big Day Out” on January 26th as it’s also Australia Day, a national public holiday that celebrates the discovery of Australia, so everywhere you go the streets will be busting with action and events!

Revelers be warned, if you are planning to hit Oz for the summer there are a few things you need to know to survive.

Temperatures at this time of the year and at these events can hit 40 degrees Celsius, the Australian sun is also stronger than most other places in the world, so 30+ sunscreen is something else you should have plenty of to avoid ending up in hospital with sun stroke or third degree burns.

> So when in Australia do remember to listen to the locals and “Slip, Slop, Slap – slip on a tee-shirt, slop on sunscreen and slap on a hat and sun glasses”
