Bogota - Rock al Parque: 3 - 5 of July 2010

Bogota, Colombia

Rock al Parque is a rock music festival taking place in Bogotá, Colombia, since 1995. The festival is considered the largest of its kind in the world, being 'free of charge' for entry. 'Rock al Parque' is part of "Festivals at the Park", a series of festivals organized by Bogotá's Secretariat of Culture, Recreation and Sports. It is the oldest and most famous of these festivals. Several festivals emulated 'Rock al Parque' and adapted its template to accommodate different artistic genres, such as Salsa, Jazz, Hip Hop, Opera, Ballet, Ranchera, and Zarzuela.

Rock al Parque will be held between the 3rd and the 5th of July, in 2010. In its 16th version it congregates the past, present and future of Rock at a world level with the presence of international artists such as: Andrés Calamaro (Argentina), Ki-Mani Marley (Jamaica) Mutemath (USA) Zoé (Mexico) Puya (Puerto Rico) Biohazard (USA) among others. You will also be able to find a colorful range of locan bands. In the weeks leading up to the event, local up-and-coming groups take part in a battle of the bands for the privilege of performing.

The festival will be taking place over three days at Bogotá's Simon Bolivar Park. Due to the increase in diversity, the festival's organizers started scheduling bands so that different types of musicians could participate alongside one another, as opposed to grouping acts by genre. Two bands that belong to different genres play simultaneously on two different stages; the festival is broadcast live over Bogotá's local news channel. The doors to the festival open at 10 am on Saturday and Sunday. The program starts at 1 pm. and ends at 10 pm.

Bogota is going to rock. There will also be special festivals, such as 'Colombia al Parque', which showcases Colombia's unique folklore and music; and 'Boys and Girls at the Park', which is made specifically for children. Everyone will find something to enjoy. It is said that Bogota is a city that belongs to everybody. Experience unique atmosphere of the capital and enjoy the greatest time ever. Feel the music all around!
