Beijing has so much to offer and understandably so after more than 800 years of being Chinas capital. The city is located on a moat, prime position for an important trade city. The best time to visit would be in fall or late spring, when the weather is warm and filled with blue skies. The city is well developed providing about 60 universities and more than enough activities.

Learning about the past is important in Bejing. The city adresses this with past history written and seen in various places from the mural of Moa to the Great Wall of China. However the city welcomes the modern world with warmth. Beijing is the proud host of the Olympic Games in 2008. The city offers a grand mix of the past and future blended together wonderfully making for a sophisticated city.

Id recommend seeing Tian'anmen Square, the tea houses all around the city, Peking Opera, the Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City. For museums, there are many but try the Capital Museum, Lu Xun Museum, Song Quing-Ling Museum. Beijing Art Museum and Beijing Art Museum of Stone Carvings. These museums will give you a feeling of how the past and present mix within the city. There are beautiful art pieces, such as coins, jade, calligraphy, stoneware, bronzes and more. If youre in the mood to rest your feet, the Sun Yatsen Park is the perfect place the perfect place to gaze at cypress trees and white marble arch. There is also the zoo where you can find adorable pandas.

What to eat
Try the local food, but if you don't like it, the city has all types of international cuisine. Yang rou chuan (skewered mutton cubes), tang hu lu (sugar coated fruits on a stick), guang chang (deep fried starch cake with garlic flavor) and bao u (boiled stomach chunks) are just some culinary treats the city has to offer.
