Festival of Lights, 11th of December 2009 - 3rd of January 2010

Vancouver, Canada

Winter is usually seen as a dark, cold and damp period. However, Vancouver can can flip it 180 degrees. Be ready to get into a bright atmosphere, full of lights and colors! The city is offering you something special: 1.4 million lights with seasonal music and community choirs - it is a great therapy for winter depression. The December Festival of Lights will be visiting the town between 11th of December 2009 and 3rd of January 2010.

The annual festival takes place in the VanDusen Botanical Garden. Festival of Lights creates an enchanted wonderland as it illuminates more than 15 acres of the Garden. The paradise of light is open from 4.30 pm to 9.00 pm every night (except 25th of December when the VanDusen Botanical Garden is closed). It is the time when everyone: young and old alike are dazzled with over one million sparkling lights.

The core of the festival of Lights is a fabulous Dancing Lights show on Livingstone Lake. Every half hour the show features thousands of lights on Lake Walk and Lake Peninsula programmed to dance, change color, and twinkle in harmony with recorded music. Moreover, Starchild and Company’s puppet shows, magical elves appearances and Santa's Living Room visits are scheduled. It is the best place to have fun in winter.

Food is also considered to be an important part of Festival of Lights. There are plenty of restaurants, small sweets shops all around the place. Delicious dishes together with winter holiday atmosphere are the things you are obliged to enjoy while staying in Vancouver. In addition, hot chocolate, mulled cider and other warm goodies are served all-day long. Flavor your visit! More information can be found at:
