Montreal Music Chamber Festival: 6 - 29 of May, 2010

The Montreal Music Chamber Festival that running May 6th through May 29th in 2010 was born in 1995 courtesy of Denis Brott, inspired by his father, conductor, musician and composer Alexander Brott's Concerts Under the Stars, a series of classical performances that took place on Mount Royal in the 1950s.
The Montreal Chamber Music Festival, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, has announced three separate series for its programme: the Classical Series, the Jazz and Jeans Series, and a new addition, the Afiara Quartet Series, which features the acclaimed quartet in performances of works by Bartók, Beethoven, Haydn, Berg, Mozart and Mendelssohn. The importance of the festival is huge. In recognition of the role the Festival plays in attracting tourists to Montreal, Tourism Quebec has committed to a three-year grant allowing the Festival to better link the tourist market.
The Festival's 15th anniversary celebrations begin on Thursday, May 6th with a concert featuring young Canadian virtuoso pianist Jan Lisiecki in his first ever chamber music performance in Montreal. The diverse programme of the festival should not disappoint. Jazz lovers should not miss the concerts held on Fridays, fans of the talent of Schumann are encouraged to take a look at the events on the 11th and 15th of May. All the concerts of Montreal Music Chamber Festival start from 8.00pm except the final concert. The 15th anniversary edition of the Montreal Chamber Music Festival ends on May 29th with what has now become an annual tradition: a six hour marathon devoted to the lushest chamber music of some of the greatest composers. Therefore, the festival gives the opportunity not only to enjoy the brilliant music but also the city itself. Montreal is widely known as the city of festivals. Fee the spirit!
