© Earth Hour 2010
For the last couple of years the consciousness for nature and our environment has been constantly growing.
One of the biggest issues concerning the environment is global warming. Sadly this effect is mainly caused by humans. But we can make a change, and we certainly have to. We are all sitting in the same boat. It's all about the place we live in.
As the resrults of this years climate summit in Copenhagen were rather disappointing the WWF initiated a campaign to make a sign. To show the world that we are prepared to take action to protect the environment.
On Saturday 27th March 2010 at 20:30 pm all lights are supposed to be turned off for one our. The response was huge, many cities all over the planet agreed on joining this symbolic gesture. Participants are for example Rome, Beijing, Dubai, Pisa, Berlin, Munich, Capetown... all in all there are more than 3451 citeis in 121 countries. That is amazing, isn't it?
The first Earth Hour took place in 2007 in Sydney with more than 2 Million people taking part. Now it turned into an global event to demonstrate that we care about our world.
So go for it, join in and switch off your lights for one hour. We count on you! You can make a difference.
