Although Germany produces many fine alcoholic beverages, it is for its beer that the nation has won an international recognition. Sometimes a beer is called the national drink of Germany and the best selling product of the country. Some brands of beer are very known worldwide, the others are appreciated only by the local societies. However, everyone has a lot to choose from. Even the beer festivals are common and widely celebrated by most of the cities and villages. No matter at what time you come, you always have huge opportunities to find something going on.
Germany is a producer of colorful range of the beer, some of which are brewed only at certain times of the year. Spring beers include: Maibock, that is valued for its strength; the dark beer brands - Dunkelbier or Schwarzbier; Weizenbier that is made from wheat rather than barley. If you are staying in Berlin, try a white beer - Berliner Weise that is usually served with fruit juice. In general, every city has its own speciality, just do not hesitate and ask the locals what should you try. German people are well known for their hospitality and willingness to help.
Munich Hostels
Probably the most widely drunken beer in Germany is Pilsener. The main ingredients of this beer are barley, hops and water. Even though, the method of the fermentation (bottom fermentation) was perfected in Czech Republic, the main breweries (Lowenbrau and Paulaner) are situated in the capital of Bavaria - Munich. Not without a reason this city is often called a beer capital (it is also the host of October feast that takes place in autumn). For the real beer lovers the drink is served in a tankard that contains one litter of this alcoholic beverage.
According to the statistics Germans annually consume 240 litters of beer per person. Therefore, these people can differ and recognize what is good and worth tasting. It is said that the country truly reveals its culture and uniqueness through the cuisine and beverages. So, once you visit Germany, don't forget to take a sip of the best beer in the world.
