Yerevan is one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities. Since the fall of Soviet Union it has changed its face rapidly. Presently it is a city that can captivate you with its modernity that blends with its antique heritage. For those who have not seen Yerevan in winter here are some tips to give you a taste of how beautiful winter is over here. From 17th of December 2009 till 6th of January 2010, Yerevan will host the third Armenia 2009 Winter Festival.
A Festival that Celebrates Winter is offering a wide range of events and a colorful programme. The spectacular opening ceremony of "Winter Festival. Armenia 2009" will take place at Arno Babajanian Concert Hall. The event is also going to present a winter parade taking place along main streets in central Yerevan. Numerous dance and theatrical performances are scheduled for December 19. The other highlight of the program is Christmas trees' exhibition in Lovers' Park on the 18th of December. Yerevan is definitely turning into a hot spot in winter.
The festival program also envisages a display and tasting of holiday dishes (traditional stews, sweets and drinks will be served), as well as winter games and an open-air concerts of local and international celebrities. Various winter games, a figure skating performance and a seasonal marketplace will hit and warm the city's atmosphere as well. The official closing ceremony of the festival will be held on January 6, 2010. Armenia truly welcomes Winter Tourism lovers!
