After its return in 2008, the music festival "What Is Music?" is back again attempting even more sublime experimental music programming. This year festival is presenting the unification of three Australia's cities. You will be able to see the incredible performances and events unleashed upon Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. An extraordinary journey into the world of sounds is waiting for you between the 12th and 19th of December.

What Is Music is an experimental prestigious music festival held in Australia since 1994. Its aim is to expose unusual contemporary musical forms that were unknown before. During the festival new instrument design, modification and presentation of sonic extremes will be presented. Undoubtedly it is the best way to experience a modern sound culture, technology as well as modernist sound art.

This year the hosts of the festival are Australia's most important cities. The opening ceremony will take place in Sydney - the city that is famous for excellent surfing beaches and the nightlife (remember, it is the summer season there). Then the festival travels between Perth - the historical capital of Australia and then moves to Melbourne. Don't miss the closing concert in the green and lively city of Melbourne and you will be surprised by the unique music project: 50/50 - 50 bands in 50 minutes.

The festival is offering you the opportunity to see extravagant first class performers from all around the world. American laptop terrorist John Wiese is going to be there as well. From Japan (Shayne Bowden andAyako Mori) to Poland (Robert Piotrowicz and Anna Zaradny). The wide range of local and international performers will meet you in Australia.
