For the second year in a row, Johannesburg (the biggest city of South Africa) will host the Miss World beauty competition. Some critics of the beauty pageants claim that beauty contests are sexist as they force women to fit into a feminine stereotypes. However, it still attracts a huge attention from media as well as a support from billions of viewers. Now in its 59th year, the Miss World pageant is known as the world’s biggest annual television event with a global television audience. In addition, it is the oldest major international beauty pageant.

All contestants must fulfill various entry requirements in order to participate in the national contests. For example: age, education or no criminal record criterions. Some decades ago, beauty pageants used to have strict rules about natural beauty. However, presently more and more contestants are using cosmetic surgery to enhance their looks. This year 120 participants from all over the world are preparing for the competition. And on the 12th of December 2009 the most beautiful woman of the World will be announced.
