Kochin India

South East Asia Pearl

This “Queen of the Arabian Sea” is situated on the west coast of India in the state of Kerala.
Kochin has passed through the hands of the Arabs, British, Chinese, Dutch and Portugese all of whom have left their marks on the history and development of the city. It has emerged as the commercial and industrial capital of Kerala and is divided into modern Ernakulam to the east and the old districts of Mattancherry and Fort Kochi on a peninsula to the west. The backwaters separating them are dotted with islands and are well worth cruising.

Kochin has something for everyone- beautiful beaches, spice markets and ancient sites. Take a stroll along Fort Kochi Beach and admire the Chinese fishing nets. When hungry, grab a bite from one of the stalls on the shoreline that prepare mouth watering traditional cuisine. The city is also the best starting point for those wishing to explore the diversity and beauty of Kerala and don't forget to catch the dynamic and intriguing traditional Kathakali dances.
