A charming mix of modern tree-lined avenues and narrow streets of traditional half-timbered houses, it is a treat to visit this capital of the Sichuan province in China.
The city is famous for the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, possibly the oldest functioning irrigation system in China and a World Heritage Site. Chengdu is also famous for its cotton rose hibiscus and one of the most delightful things to do must is a visit to one of the centuries old tea houses.
