Fiesta de San Medir – Barcelona.
If you have a craving for all things that are sweet, you can check out the Fiesta de San Medir. It is an annual event that takes place every early March in the artistic district of Gracia in Barcelona.
The parade which started in the 16th century, kicks off at about 8pm and is in honor of Sant Medir who is the patron saint of broad beans. The vibrant parade includes many carriages and horses decorated with flags and costumes and has hundreds of people come together to enjoy the festivities.
The procession begins from Calle Grande de Gracia with people gathering on the streets to catch sweets and candies thrown into the crowds as the parade passes. The parade finishes with an impressive fireworks display in the Jardinets de Gracia and is free to attend.
