65 Venice film festival.
The worlds oldest film festival is back again and is premiering some soon to be world renowned cinema. The Coen brothers' 'Burn After Reading', which will open the festival, and a previously unreleased version of Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini's 'La rabbia' ('Rage') will follow.
The coveted golden lion award for best film will be awarded on the last day and the films in contention include, Darren Aronofsky's 'The Wrestler', Mexican writer-director Guillermo Arriaga's 'The Burning Plain', starring Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger, Jonathan Demme's 'Rachel Getting Married', and 'Ponyo on the Cliff', the latest feature-length animation from Hayao Miyazaki, the Japanese director of 'Spirited Away'.
The Orizzonti section of the festival will showcase a selection of films highlighting "new trends in cinema". The line-up for the Corto Cortissimo competition, which pits the best international short films against each other, has yet to be announced.
The festival takes place on August 27th and runs until the 6th of September.
