People visiting Africa rarely dare to go further than Morocco or Egypt but they don`t know what they miss. Let me prove that South Africa is worth a visit as well. Here are some tips about Cape Town:
If the weather is cooperating then Table Mountain is definitely a must; on sunny days it can offer a beautiful view over the city. Rides running all day can take you up to the 1,085-meter-high summit in no time and there is a 50% discount available for tickets purchased after 6 p.m. You can enjoy the sunset sitting in a comfortable chair, sipping some local wines provided by restaurant situated on the top of the mountain.
Wanna check out one of South Africa's most impressive routes??? Chapman's Peak Drive runs 600 m above the Atlantic Ocean providing a breathtaking view and occasionally gives you the opportunity to witness some rare examples of the African marine life. Wharfside Grill in Hout Bay Harbour tempts the hungry travellers with some exotic see food that they can endeavour just at the end of the drive.
Thirsty after the tour and dying for some refreshments? Drop into hotel Mount Nelson for a cup of quality tea, granted 'Best Tea in the World' by the Sunday Times or just grab a cucumber sandwich, strawberry scone, tea cake, petit four, pastry, meringue, éclair or some South African delicacies such as melktert (a baked custard tart) or a koeksister (doughnut preferably dipped in syrup or coconut) and continue discovering South Africa's hidden treasures.
After having pampered your taste buds it`s time to have a siesta! When all feed there is nothing better than to lie back and listen to some nice music. Never heard of goema? Taking part in a Cape Town Jazz Safari is the best way to familiarize yourself with this distinctive variation of jazz, which blends South African ethnic music with Western rhythms. Night tours running from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. include visits to the homes of some of the local music legends, home-made dinner and Monday nightly the chance for a fiesta at Stringers Jazz Club.
Finally some tips for the more adventurous explorers: instead of simply admiring the majestic sea creatures from Chapman`s Peak Drive, how about a dive with them? The Two Oceans Aquarium at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront accommodates 3000 different examples of the South African marine life including sharks, seals, turtles and penguins. You are a certified diver and a fearless risk-taker? Then you can have a 30-minute-swim with the sharks in a 2,000.000-liter seawater tank. For those satisfied with less adrenalin there is the Kelp Forest display tank where you can also feed these gigantic predators.
Did I manage to wake up the explorer in you? So then what are you waiting for? Go and book your flight to Cape Town NOW!!!
