EXPOSICIÓ 'BARCELONA 1992 - PEQUÍN 2008'
From Barcelona to Beijing

Casa Àsia has an exhibition on the rapid urban transformation of Beijing for the imminent Olympic Games. The photos show the changes in the city over the last decade and the economic explosion in China in general, an unstoppable giant.

This is also an occasion to remember what the Olympics meant for Barcelona, sixteen years ago now.

EXPOSICIÓ 'REUTERS MIRA EL MÓN'
Reuters looks at recent history through a collection of photographs

The Palau Robert has organised an exhibition of photographs taken by the professional photographers of the Reuters, the world's largest news agency. Eighty have been chosen from over half a million photos taken between 2000 and 2005.

The exhibition is divided into five sections: religion, lifestyles, politics, armed conflicts and major issues, like terrorism, natural disasters and immigration. It also offers visitors the chance to see the images Reuters receives in real time.

"Reuters: The State of The World" is a tribute to the 240 journalists who have died exercising their profession since the year 2000.

SHACKS: from Barceloneta beach to the City History Museum

More than 150 photographs, paintings and other material, most unpublished, are on display at the City History Museum in an exhibition entitled "Shacks. The Informal City" that shows the origins and growth of Somorrostro, the city's main shantytown in the 20th century.

The idea is to show the city's informal growth and how this interacted with town planning to alter the social fabric and identity of its inhabitants.

Using maps and photos of families who lived there, the exhibition lets us see what this shantytown, between Barceloneta beach and Poblenou, was like.
