Uniting people to protect the planet
Earth hour is when the people from all the world try to protect planet by turning off all their essential lights for a whole hour, committing to reduce their environmental impact. For the last couple of years the consciousness for nature and our environment has been constantly growing.
One of the biggest issues concerning the environment is global warming. Sadly this effect is mainly caused by humans. But we can make a change, and we certainly have to. We are all sitting in the same boat. It's all about the place we live in.
As the results of this years climate summit in Copenhagen were rather disappointing the WWF initiated a campaign to make a sign. To show the world that we are prepared to take action to protect the environment. This year the Earth Hour takes place on Saturday, 29th of March, from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm. In between this hour, all lights are supposed to be turned off. The response was huge, many cities all over the planet agreed on joining this symbolic gesture. Participants are for example Rome, Beijing, Dubai, Pisa, Berlin, Munich, Cape Town... pretty amazing, isnt it?
Even if many sees this act as a political campaign against all the big energy companies, but actually it's just a nice way of saving our planet, in times, when it's hard to do something at the same time, for the whole world being as one. Showing that if we give a hand to each other, we can all make a difference, so do not be indifferent, show that you care, for your kids sake.
The Earth Hour has grown into something really huge, a global phenomenon, this year 2014 it will across six continents, with more than 4.000 cities taking part all around the world. Earth Hour promises to be one of the largest voluntary power downs in history. So stop whatever you are doing, the dinner can be in delay, our life on this planet can not, so gather together and do something for our planet's sake!
