Little Italy in Boston

The North End

Boston in USA is a very international city, full of all kind of people, back in early 20 century European immigrants arrived in ever-increasing numbers...the place is called the North End, bringing up the thought of New World phenomenon of New York. The North End covers one square mile and always densely populated, it has been home to successive influxes of English, Polish, Russian, Jewish, Portuguese, Irish and ultimately Italian families, in fact very often called Little Italy.

The Italian-Americans have been dominant there since the 1870's , you can feel the Italian touch everywhere in the town, it truly feels like Italy with the Mediterranean ambience of espresso cafes and many restaurants in the style of Tratorias , which are more easy than restaurants, you feel like home ,nobody poor wine and you get very friendly treatment, not that official like usual ones. Little Italy is bordered by Commercial and Causeway Streets and Atlantic Avenue. Everyone knows , if you are seeking for the best in Italian cuisine and to enjoy the decidedly Italian feel of the region, Boston is the right place to be. You don't have to across the continent to feel Italy...

The two main streets in this historic neighborhood are Hanover and Salem Streets, the vibrant North End will let you enjoy it fully no matter who are you, a tourist or a resident...there are many Genovese, Sicilian, Milanese and Neapolitan immigrants who settled there, they call it home, cos it's simply Italy with all the traditions celebrated year to year with no exception, also the patron saints of those regions of Italy are celebrated during the summer months in the North End even today. North End, its old world Italian flavor is preserved the region's language, music, cuisine, and customs, all that you need from Italy, you will find there.
