It's in nature to eat more when it's cold...so when the autumn comes, everyone prefers to wrap into warm blankets and eat some piece of cake! But for Koreans, cake is something healthier than rest of the world is used to..a rice cake! Every year held in mid October there is a Gyeongju Liquor & Rice Cake Festival in Hwangseong Park. Every real Korean would bake a rice cake home and invite guests , welcoming them with rice drinks brewed to secret family recipes. Lets say its a Rice celebration, like Italians make pasta parties, for Koreans this is the day for their Pasta!
So, if you get to Korea around October, please don't miss the major sites, like Korean Buddhism like Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto in Gyeongju and of course the Gyeongju Rice Cake and Korean Traditional Drink Festival which is an awesome opportunity to get know Koreans culture, their dining traditions and the famous ancient royal tea ceremony.
But it won't be all about eating and drinking, watching Koreans cooking and entertain you, no way, you will participate, the festival offers to visitors opportunity to make their own rice cakes, learn about the history of rice cakes, witness a traditional tea ceremony and so much more, Koreans are willing to show the world with what they are particular and what's their culture like.
