Being Japan's capital and world's most famous metropolis, Tokyo has earned the title by working hard and proving itself in the world. It's home to the Imperial Residence, also Japan's seat and Parliament are located there.
The majority living in Tokyo are Japanese, and only few Asian minorities, and very few foreigners, those Japanese who are from Tokyo usually have their families living there for more than three generations, and those are very few. Mostly they are from other cities in the Japan, the influx of people from the country have created a shortage in available space, so it makes living in Tokyo very expensive.
At the very beginning, back in 16th Century, Tokyo was known as Edo, that was a tiny castle town, when Tokugawa Ieyasu established his feudal government there, Tokyo – Edo, has become Japan's political center. Just few decades later, Edo grew into one of the world's most populous cities, in 1868 Edo was renamed Tokyo , which means Eastern Capital.
Nowadays after wars and many times destroyed Tokyo offers anything you wish for, unlimited choice of shopping, entertainment, culture and dining to its visitors. Countless museums, historical temples and gardens, even if its a huge metropolis, it still has a number of attractive green spaces in the city center. However, Tokyo is very well organized with any kind of transport, so there shouldn't be a problem to get to the other side of the city or even to get out!
