Gothenburg, Westcoast, Bestcoast!

Paradise for Fashionistas

Gothenburg, the second biggest city of Sweden. A pearl on the westcoast with the feeling of a small town, but in the shoes of a big city. Yes, in Gothenburg you can find everything to suit all tastes – gourmands with a taste for everything from the ocean, will go crazy loco at famous seafood-restaurant Sjomagasinet, club-kids will calm down after a night out at busy “Champs Elysee of Gothenburg” - Avenyn, familys will enjoy themselves in one of the biggest amusement parks of europe – Liseberg, and fashionistas will find everything for their own runway at central mall – Nordstan!

Best of all, its in the distance of a stroll. But, if preferred, you can always discover this lovely city by the sea, from ferrys departure from several docks downtown, hire a bike from one of the newly built bike-stations, do like the locals do; go by tram or buss.

If you're more into the world of fine arts rather than go apeshit in the latest all-wooden roller coaster at amusementpark Liseberg, then maybe the Gothenburg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (10/9-13/11-2011) at The Gothenburg Konsthall is something for you...It comes with a great location too! At Gotaplatsen, the very end of one of the mainstreets – Aveyn, you also have the neighboors Gothenburg concert hall to the right for some divine tunes of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Gothenburg City theatre to the left for some high quality roleplay!

If you're still not satisfied you'll always have the Rohsska museum for fashion, design and decorative arts for dessert. Its situated just a stroll down from Gotaplatsen at mainstreet Avenyn..you'll pass a massive amount of restaurants..but pssst! insider tips, skip the a la carte at this busy address and sneak peek your way into the side streets kitchens; for a quick bite you'll go to Strommingsluckan at Magasinsgatan – here they serve real authentic, Swedish herring and mashed potatoes from a wagon. Its very popular and people tend to lounge while eating, in this sun drenched little piazza.

If your taste buddies is craving a spicy Indian curry you'll hustle your way trough “almost-to-cute-to-be-true” neighborhood Haga with its old woodenbuildings (dont forget to stop by the cafe Husaren for the biggest cinnamon bun you'll ever see!!) and pass by wonderful piazza Jarntorget to funky area Andra Langgatan. In the beginning of the street you'll find the best curry in Gothenburg, at restaurant Bombay. During lunchtime you'll even get the naaan bread for free!

Take your after-dinner-coffee at coffee bar Cigarren under the chandelier, (yea, they sell cigars too!) at Jarntorget. When youre all full and happy and in need of a little nappie, take a power-walk up to big, bold and beautiful park Slottskogen, take a glimpse at the swedish moose (yes theyre behind a fence) at the zoo and then fall asleep under one of the many oak trees..
