Cosmopolitan city Brussels

Beautiful architecture and rich chocolate

Belgium's proud capital city Brussels lies at the very heart of the crossroads to the whole of West Europe. Brussels is easy to reach from many different European destinations. It's a truly cosmopolitan city and home to a wealth of different nationalities and cultures. The city has two official languages french and dutch, which makes it a bilingual capital. Street names and traffic sings are always in these two languages. Furthermore, it is a cosmopolitan city where many different cultures live together and where different languages can be heard on each street.

The city has endless sights to visit, friendly atmosphere, beautiful architecture, rich chocolate and frothy Belgian beer that combine to make this city so very inviting, full of history but at the same time manages to be modest city. Many important Flemish institutions have based themselves within Brussels, such as the Flemish Parliament itself. Belgians have a relaxed pace of life. Bruxelles is also Europien capital city to the Europien Commission and the Council of ministers of the European Union (EU).

You can find different architectural styles in Brussels. Gothic cathedrals and churches are next to - and sometimes in stark contrast with - gracious classical facades like the buildings around the Royal Square , or beautiful art nouveau and art deco houses. Many historical landmarks are concentrated around its Grote Markt Square in the very center.

This historic market square with its splendid guild houses and the impressive Gothic beauty of the Town Hall, is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful town squares in Europe. One of the most photographed sights stands in this part of the city, the iconic bronze of a young boy urinating that is named the Manneken Pis.

The city is full of contradictions and contrasts, Belgium's capital seduces as one of Western Europe's unknowns. The arrival of immigrants and refugees from all over the world has made it a colorful and unique town with varied population.
