Canada's most cultural city... Montreal!
Montreal, the second biggest city in Canada
Montreal, the second biggest city in Canada, has one of the most interesting cultural clashes in the country. The French and the English live harmoniously in this vibrant metropolis along with people from all over the world who have been settling in, in large numbers for decades.
There are plenty of things to do and see in Montreal! The city hosts annually the Montreal International Film Festival, the Montreal World Film Festival, the Just for Laughs Festival, the Montreal High Lights Festival and many many more..
It it easy to start from little Italy, walk your way to the “Plateau”, the hip and artsy part of the city all the way to the Mount-Royal for some fresh air. It's good to go there on a Sunday afternoon and catch the ''Tam-Tams'', all kinds of people bringing their tam-tams along and making music together under the sun. From there the Quartier Latin is at walking distance.
With or without festivals, the Latin Quarter is still a charm. Once you get there, to the left you have Montreal's famous Gay Village, straight ahead is China Town, and to the right is the heart of downtown, perfect for shopping.
Just a little further is one of the most beautiful places and of course, most touristic places, the Old-Montreal. Get lost in the small european-style streets, take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage and make sure not the miss the City Hall, very impressive at night! On the riverside is the Old-Port and just a bridge away is the St-Helene island, a small island with a big amusement park!
Montreal's nightlife is probably the best in the country! There's enough bars and clubs to satisfy every preference. There's even outdoor electronic music parties every Sunday afternoon during summer.
Winters can be very cold and summers, vey hot. This just makes this cosmopolitan city even more interesting diverse!
