Elephants on Parade Surin, Thailand 20-21 Nov
If you are thinking of visiting Thailand in November and are interested in seeing something a little different to market stalls, beautiful beaches and temples, then the Surin Elephant Round Up could be something for you!
Each year thousands of people flock to this spectacular event held at Sri Narong Staduim, were over 250 very well trained elephants wearing medieval costume put on an amazing spectacle. You will see Elephant tug-o-war, log pulling and even elephant football!
The celebrations begin the week before the main event, where a huge street parade is held through the local streets and market near the Sri Narong Stadium, various other events take place in the lead up to the weekend.
On the Friday morning you can witness the “Elephant Breakfast”, it is the biggest mass feeding of these beautiful creatures in the entire world, and the locals line the streets with all the food this gentle giants could possibly eat.
On the Saturday and Sunday watch the parades and fanfare that demonstrate a working elephant’s life ending with 2000 people and elephants parading in colourful local costume.
