Marrakech Popular Arts Festival: 16 - 24 of July, 2010

Marrakech, is like a diamond in the sand. Visit the lively city of Marrakech during the Marrakech Popular Arts Festival and see even more popular sights and sounds of this unique town than it usually boasts. This popular Art Festival transforms the Djemaa el-Fna square and the surrounding location to an al-fresco venue featuring a wide spectrum of traditional folk arts from all over Morocco. The 45th annual Marrakech Popular Arts Festival will this year take place from the 16th to 24th of July, 2010.


Artists, craftsmen, vendors, musicians, acrobats, fire-swallowers... During this festival, the fun loving Moroccans and tourists throng at the town and make the already-packed streets even more crowded. The festival celebrates the country’s rich musical and cultural heritage. You will be able to find modern entertainment as well as ancient folk-dances, along with the traditional Berber musicians and Chaabi rhythms.



The festival will start on the 16th of July with a parade along Mohamed V Boulevard. There will be more than 500 artists, who will be singing and dancing in the streets. The 9-days long event will present the fabulous and rich programme. It will include the representatives of the 21 regions of Morocco, traditional Aita folk music from varying regions, current pop musicians, most famous Moroccan singers and much more.


Don't miss this unique event of North Africa. Combining modern entertainment with ancient folkdances, traditional Berber musicians and Chaabi rhythms, the festival celebrates the country's musical and cultural heritage over a nine day period. In addition, don't Marrakech is known for its souks or markets. These consist of miles of narrow alleyways packed with stalls, all with the stallholder ready at the entrance.
