San Diego

San Diego is a great place to visit year-round, because of its wonderful weather. There are hot summers and cool winters, but the beach is always a welcoming place. It's a good thing too, because San Diego has many beaches and some parks that are perfect places to while away your afternoons. Balboa Park has fifteen museums, the Old Globe Theatre and the city Zoo within its grounds. The Zoo's main attractions are the giant pandas. Mission Bay Park is one of the largest man-made parks in the nation ? there are 4,235 acres. Then there are also the Presidio and Shoreline Parks. You can also visit the San Diego Wild Animal Park and Sea World.

The beaches include Blacks Beach, La Jolla Shores and Cove, Children's Pool, Windansea Beach, North Pacific Beach, Pacific Beach Mission Bay Beaches, Mission Beach and Ocean Beach. If you?re lucky, you?ll spot sea lions or seals (at certain times of the year). On San Diego?s shores, you can go for a swim, picnic, walk, get some sun, scuba dive, surf, sailboard, fish, bike, motorboat, sail, row, waterski, jog or eat... You definitely aren?t going to run out of things to do here! If you get restless, try venturing out further - cruise around the Pacific Ocean, starting at the Port of San Diego.

For museums, the Museum of Art is located in Balboa Park. Here you can experience an afternoon of Renaissance and Baroque music while being surrounded by art pieces from the time. There are modern artists on display including Roy Lichtenstein, Milton Avery, Stuart Davis, and Georgia O'Keeffe. There is also the San Diego Space and Air Museum where you can learn how to fly... Or well, how others are flying anyway! There are also many other museums, including the Timken Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art. The theatres in San Diego include the Civic Theatre, San Diego Symphony, Opera, Old Globe Theatres and Starlight Theatre. Starlight puts on a musical production under the stars for a glorious evening.

The Gaslamp Quarter is southern California's place to dine, shop and is the entertainment district of the city. Here you'll find a wonderful cultural blend of food, fun and culture. This is one of San Diego's most historic areas. There is also golfing at Torrey Pines, Balboa Park and Mission Bay Golf Course.

San Diego is a wonderful place to take the family or go with friends. The beaches and parks are a highlight of all the city has on offer. The sun is constantly out, leaving everybody in a great mood. Locals are friendly, not too rushed and definitely know how to take it easy in the warm Californian sun.

Where to eat:
For the cheaper side of dinning, try T-Deli (University Aenue), Chief's Burgers & Brew (Lomas Santa Fe Drive) and Kelly's Coffee & Fudge Factory (Mission Avenue). For a more sophisticated oferring, try Tapenade, Barolo Ristorante or Market Street Cafe & French Bakery. Tapenade is French cuisine with a patio that looks out onto La Jolla street. Barolo Ristorante is a charming Italian restaurant offering authentic cuisine. Market Street Cafe & French Bakery has a wholesome, simple elegant setting offering a nice cup of coffee and some tasty pastries.

Where to party:
For late night there is the downtown area. Fifth Avenue is by the water and has bars and dancing. San Diego has a wide variety of music, but its focus is mostly on jazz, country and blues. There is also the Mission Bay neighbourhood where you?ll find clubs on Garnet Avenue.
