Miami Beach has it all, splendor, glam, wealth, glittering nightlife, sexy people queuing for fashion clubs, but also an exciting mixture of cultures, hot air, humidity and crazy weather with hurricanes, that makes the city spicy, fast and furious. No surprise that Miami attracts many visitors and out-ranks other US cities in cultural events. For 12 years now is being held also the international meeting of contemporary art lovers – Art Basel Miami Beach edition. The exhibition shows leading artworks from all over the world, collecting the greatest masterpieces and gathering top artists and buyers of modern art.The 2013 edition of Art Basel offers artwork from over 200 world’s best galleries, creations of more than 4000 artists with more than 50 000 visitors every year! There will be 7 different sectors that allow everyone to exhibit, from the most appreciated masterpieces to new, ambitious talents eager to be discovered on their way to success. Apart from inside displays, there will be also one outdoor, open to public, with sculptures, interventions and performances. Art Basel in Miami is not only about art shows, there are numerous parties that kick off along with the event. Panel discussions, film shows, dinners, never-ending, till-the-morning parties, it seems that you don’t have to be keen on art to entertain yourself at Art Basel.
The history of Art Basel dates back to 1970 when the 3 modern art passionates decided to make an exhibition, a modern, innovative project, which from its first edition gained success. Over 90 galleries, 30 publishers from 10 countries already from the very beginning! Passion and determination were the keys to success for Trudi Bruckner, Balz Hilt and Ernst Beyrler, founders of Art Basel fair. Their intention was to integrate modern art community to make it live, artist with collectors, galleries and public institutions and the goal was fully accomplished.
Miami Beach in December means good weather and kilometres of sandy beach over the Atlantic Ocean. Now also the beaches will be dotted with ‘art nouveau’, but during the night, all the best clubs are filling with people eager to party and have the time of their life, now or never, in Miami Beach!
